Professor Peter Fonagy

Programme Director - Mental Health

Professor Peter Fonagy is Programme Director for Mental Health at UCLPartners.

Peter is a clinical psychologist and is Head of the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences at UCL. He is Freud Memorial Professor of Psychoanalysis and Chief Executive of the Anna Freud Centre, National Clinical Lead of Improving Access to Psychological Therapies for Children and Young People, and a Senior Investigator for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). He is a fellow of the British Academy.
Peter’s clinical interests centre on issues of borderline psychotherapy, violence and early attachment relationships. His work attempts to integrate empirical research with psychoanalytical theory.
