UCLPartners AHSC researchers support the COVID-19 response

Our AHSC is one of six designated AHSCs in England to drive the translation of innovative research into patient benefit.

We are sharing some of the research, resources and insights, developed in response to COVID-19, including:

• London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine have a number of online resources, including an online course explaining the virus, and Q&A sessions with experts about the outbreak. Please visit their COVID-19 resource hub for more information.
• UCL have led on a range of studies and analysis into understanding the spread and the impact of the virus. More information about COVID-19 research can be found on the UCL website.
• A breathing aid that can help keep Covid-19 patients out of intensive care, adapted by mechanical engineers at UCL and clinicians at UCLH working with Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains (Mercedes-AMG HPP), has been approved for use in the NHS.
• Professor Richard Buggs, Professor of Evolutionary Genomics, and Professor Richard Nichols, Professor of Genetics, both with the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London, co-wrote an opinion piece for The Conversation about sequencing the DNA of patients screened for coronavirus to help save lives.

In addition to this, clinicians, technicians, scientists and students from across the membership have been returning to the frontline to help support the NHS.
