UCLPartners publishes report identifying cost effective interventions for place based care

UCLPartners has published a new report exploring how local health economies can improve population health and produce efficiency savings in the short to medium term.

Launched at UCLPartners’ Population-based health and care event on 18 May 2016, the report was created in partnership with clinical researchers, the CLAHRC North Thames, UCL and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The research team screened over 9,000 records for inclusion, with 56 finally selected for inclusion in the report. These were grouped into 11 categories:

• Cardiovascular
• Diabetes
• Musculoskeletal
• Mental health
• Falls
• Surgical
• Palliative
• Smoking
• Alcohol
• Obesity

The interventions described in this pragmatic review provide potential opportunities for health and social care systems to challenge existing practice and find opportunities to achieve cost savings without compromising care quality.
