UCLPartners launch pilot of the UK’s leading online patient feedback platform

28 May 2019

UCLPartners is delighted to announce four hospital departments from north London will be piloting Care Opinion, the UK’s leading online patient feedback platform.

The successful departments piloting Care Opinion are:

Care Opinion offers patients and carers an easy way to anonymously and securely share their experiences and feedback with their healthcare provider. Healthcare staff can listen, gain insight, respond, and act on the feedback, improving patient experience. It also gives healthcare providers the chance to recognise staff who are going above and beyond in the treatment of patients.

UCLPartners invited secondary care departments from across the partnership the opportunity to apply to pilot Care Opinion for six months.

The platform will be an opportunity to identify themes for improvement, celebrate what works well and boost staff morale.

Following the application process, the four departments were awarded access to a fully funded Care Opinion subscription, as well as hands-on support, for the duration of the six-month pilot.

Each trust will then have the opportunity to receive up to 50% funding to contribute towards an annual subscription, to continue their programmes thereafter.

James Munro, CEO of Care Opinion said: “There’s growing evidence that patient feedback can be a powerful stimulus for encouraging staff and improving care – but only if it reaches the right people at the right time. We’re excited to start working with four trusts across London, with support from UCLPartners, to learn together how to maximise the benefits of online feedback for clinical teams.”

Dr Erin Walker, Patient Insight and Involvement Lead said: “Offering a platform for patient feedback which allows a dialogue between NHS staff and a patient is novel yet crucial in order to continuously improve patient experience. We are delighted to be offering a pilot of Care Opinion to four enthusiastic teams across UCLPartners so those trusts can do exactly that.’”

UCLPartners is committed to empowering healthcare organisations to involve patients in quality improvement. The pilot is one of a number of ways in which UCLPartners support patient insight and involvement.
