Transforming healthcare systems

Urgent Community Response services help keep people out of hospital, but many teams still rely on manual scheduling, making it harder to get the right clinician to the right patient at the right time.

Doc Abode uses real-time data to help urgent community care teams deploy staff more effectively, reducing administration time, improving coordination, and enabling faster responses.

Through the NHS Innovation Accelerator and ongoing innovation support, we have worked with Doc Abode to help scale its scheduling platform across the NHS.

Following successful implementation in Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, we worked with Doc Abode to secure £500,000 in SBRI Healthcare funding to scale across three North Central London NHS trusts, and we are now leading an evaluation of its impact on efficiency, care quality, patient and staff experience, and value for money.

Early evidence demonstrates the potential of scheduling optimisation to transform community services. Previous roll outs showed substantial improvements in productivity, service capacity and workforce efficiency. Through robust evaluation and continuous learning, we will help generate the evidence needed to support wider NHS adoption and ensure innovations that deliver value can be scaled effectively across health systems.
