Supporting relatives with family members in care homes
FAQ leaflet launched to answer common questions about family members in a care home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having a relative in a care home during the COVID-19 pandemic can be a source of worry and uncertainty for families and friends.
To support relatives and carers, we have worked with North London Partners to develop an FAQ leaflet to answer some of the common questions relatives have about family members in a care home during this time.
The FAQ leaflet was produced with some of our local care homes and relatives, quality leads, GPs and the Relatives and Residents Association. It is part of a wider programme of work by UCLPartners to support care homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. A selection of resources that can be used by care home staff to assess patient deterioration and work safely is available here https://uclpartners.com/work/care-home-resources/.
All care homes are encouraged to add this leaflet to their websites, send it out to relatives via email and to use it to help facilitate discussions with families.
To help us improve the FAQ leaflet and our communications with families, friends and carers we have also created a short survey for care home staff and relatives to complete.
If you would like to know more about this work, or are interested in adapting this FAQ leaflet for your organisation, please email valentina.karas@uclpartners.com.
