National Cardiac Audit Programme
Since 2017, we have been working closely with the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR) to support the National Cardiac Audit Programme (NCAP).
This work aims to:
- improve data quality
- provide useful and timely reports
- provide support tools to aid quality
improvement programmes and trust improvement work
Through this work we are supporting local, regional and national
initiatives to improve quality of care for patients with cardiovascular
As a result of our work, the 2018 NCAP aggregate report reached a major milestone, succeeding in bringing together the six individual cardiac domains, documenting the history and development of the audits over time and introducing more explicit Quality Improvement (QI) themes. The 2019 report had an even greater focus on QI and was tailored to different audiences, both technical and patient/public.
We are running four regional QI roadshows for readers of the NCAP report to help them understand their data and learn how to use a QI approach to make positive changes in service and improve care for their patients.
