Making every contact count

We are working with secondary care organisations on cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention strategies for both staff and patients supporting the NHS Long Term Plan and the NHS People Plan.

CVD accounts for a quarter of all deaths in the UK and is the largest cause of premature mortality in deprived areas. UCLPartners serves a population of six million people, of which over 100,000 are NHS staff. We are committed to contributing to the NHS Long Term Plan and the NHS People Plan, helping reduce health inequalities for these individuals.

Our approach

We are piloting the adaptation of existing services and/or implementing new pathways within three NHS hospitals to improve the identification of undiagnosed and undertreated high blood pressure (BP) in both clinical and non-clinical NHS staff.

The focus on BP will complement existing ‘healthy lifestyle’ schemes such as smoking cessation, exercise and mental health.
