Care Opinion: online patient feedback
We have supported four secondary care departments in our region to pilot the Care Opinion platform to capture what really matters to patients and identify themes for improvement.
Care Opinion is an online patient feedback platform for health and social care. It offers patients and carers an easy way to anonymously and securely share their experiences and feedback with their healthcare provider. Healthcare staff can listen, gain insight, respond, and act on the feedback, improving patient experience. It also gives trusts the chance to recognise staff who are going above and beyond in the treatment of patients.
We are committed to helping healthcare organisations to increase patient involvement in quality improvement.
We have supported four secondary care departments in our region to pilot Care Opinion for six months. Using this platform gives our partners a chance to capture what really matters to patients and identify themes for improvement, as well as celebrating what works well and boosting staff morale.
Departments that took part in the pilot are:
- Neuro Rehabilitation Centre – Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust
- Maternity Department -Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals
- NHS Trust Maternity Department – University College London Hospitals
- NHS Foundation Trust Emergency Department – North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust.
During the pilot these departments had full access to Care Opinion and received hands-on support to implement the platform. Now the pilot has ended, these departments have the opportunity to receive up to 50% funding towards an annual subscription.
“There’s growing evidence that patient feedback can be a powerful stimulus for encouraging staff and improving care – but only if it reaches the right people at the right time. So we’re excited to be working with four trusts in London, with the support of UCLPartners, to learn together how to maximise the benefits of online feedback for clinical teams.” James Munro, CEO Care Opinion
