Air pollution: key resources for health professionals

As part of our AHSC (Academic Health Science Centre) research on respiratory health we are sharing resources for paediatricians on air pollution.

The inquest on the death of Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah, where air pollution was added to the death certificate, highlighted the importance of health professionals understanding and communicating with children and parents/guardians about the health effects of air pollution. The coroner’s “lessons to be learnt” from this inquest will be published soon.

The prevention of future deaths report states that “adverse effects of air pollution on health are not being sufficiently communicated to patients and their carers by medical and nursing professionals”.

Key resources

We are sharing key resources that can support health professionals with air pollution discussions. We will include access to a series of air pollution webinars on air pollution developed by the UCL Institute of Health Equity, and recent research updates.
