A shared outcome perinatal mental health value scorecard to support health visitors to improve outcomes for children 0-5 years and their families

30 September 2015

UCLPartners successfully developed and tested a perinatal mental health scorecard – which aims to improve outcomes for children age 0-5, and their families – with four partner organisations.

The scorecard is a service-level quality improvement (QI) tool that is completed monthly and records national best practice adherence and a range of activity, outcome and experience data. These data are used to inform local QI projects and the impact of these QI projects can be monitored and reviewed by examining changes in scorecard data over time.

Read the final report here.

Our recommendations include refining, upscaling and evaluating the scorecard; evaluating its effectiveness as a QI tool; carrying out further work on the value of the scorecard; and providing capacity to spread the methodology to other areas of healthcare.

The project was funded by Health Education England North Central and East London on behalf of the Department of Health.
