UCLPartners work with Alzheimer’s Society to help innovators bring new dementia solutions into health and care systems
The partnership will support innovators participating in Alzheimer’s Society’s Launchpad and Accelerator programmes, which work with founders at different stages of development, from early ideas through to solutions ready to scale. This work will accelerate innovations that can improve the lives of people living with dementia and those who care for them.
We will support founders by providing practical insight into how the system and the NHS works and how innovations can be successfully introduced into real-world health and care settings. This will include delivering learning webinars and mentor support on navigating the NHS and mentoring founders who are looking to work with health and care services.
For many innovators, understanding how to work with the NHS can be one of the biggest barriers to bringing new solutions into routine care. By providing this insight early in the innovation journey, the partnership aims to help innovators design solutions that are aligned with the needs of the health and care system and can be adopted more effectively.
Dementia remains one of the biggest health and care challenges facing the UK, currently affecting around on million people and placing significant pressure on services. Supporting innovators to develop solutions that can work within the realities of the NHS is essential if new approaches are going to reach the people who need them most. Partnerships like this help bring together the expertise needed to support innovators and accelerate progress in dementia care.

Through its innovation programmes, Alzheimer’s Society seeks out and brings the best entrepreneurs into dementia, working alongside experts and people affected by the condition to develop solutions from improving access to diagnosis, to helping prevent avoidable hospital admissions and supporting people to live more independent lives.
By combining Alzheimer’s Society’s expertise in dementia and lived experience with our experience supporting the adoption and spread of health innovation across the NHS, the partnership will help bridge the gap between promising ideas and real-world impact.
At Alzheimer’s Society, we’re committed to driving forward innovation in dementia. We’re delighted to be working with UCLPartners to help participants on our award-winning innovation programme better understand how the NHS works early on in their product development journey. This partnership will give our entrepreneurs the best chance of having their innovations adopted in practice, helping to transform the lives of people affected by dementia.
