New fund for innovation adoption launched
Today, a new fund offering innovators and adopters across UCLPartners the opportunity to bid for a share of £50,000 to help spread improvements in patient safety has been launched.
This fund has been created specifically to support the adoption of innovations and improvement interventions across our partnership.
Individuals, teams or organisations are invited to apply for up to £10,000 to adopt, spread or test and refine their innovation or improvement intervention. Applications are sought for projects that seek to improve patient safety.
John Illingworth, Head of Patient Safety at UCLPartners said: “Supporting innovation is a core ingredient in driving improvements in health care and is central to our work at UCLPartners. However, the task faced by the adopters of innovations is extremely challenging. There can be a presumption that innovations can be implemented everywhere once they have been demonstrated once, but this ignores the often-significant effort required to make them work somewhere else.
“The aim of this fund is to help plug that gap, giving teams in our partnership the opportunity to receive funding to adopt, spread or further test innovations that have the potential to reduce harm to patients and improve care”
Kate Hall, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Capability Development for UCLPartners said: “Lack of funds can often be a barrier to adopting new practices, treatments or technologies to improve health and care. The aim of this fund is to support staff working on the frontline to turn their improvement ideas into a reality, improving their working practices and providing safer, higher quality care for patients”
