UCLPartners and UCL Health Alliance to join forces

26 May 2023
UCLPartners and UCL Health Alliance – the provider collaborative for north central London – are to come together to form a single health innovation partnership.

The move has been endorsed by system leaders in north central London, north east London, mid and south Essex and London region.

Earlier this year, UCL Health Alliance achieved national innovator status with a remit to pilot new models of care for large-scale rollout to speed up access to treatment, improve patient experience and improve health outcomes. This work dovetails with our strategy for research and innovation to tackle the biggest health challenges facing the five million people living in the communities we serve.

The exact form of the partnership will be determined in the coming weeks.

To facilitate this transition, our board has appointed Dominic Dodd, Chair of UCL Health Alliance, as our Chair, and Richard Murley has agreed to step down as Chair. We would like to thank Richard for his outstanding chairmanship during a period of significant change.

Richard Murley said: “It has been a privilege to chair UCLPartners through an exciting period which has seen our emergence from the pandemic and the launch of a new strategy to create a pipeline of innovation that will deliver solutions to those most in need. The combination of UCL Health Alliance with UCLPartners is a positive step that will enhance collaboration around research and innovation in health and care in our region.”

Dominic Dodd said: “We need a radically new health and care system rooted in the very best research and innovation. I’m delighted that UCLPartners and UCL Health Alliance will be coming together to support that mission for the populations we serve, and I look forward to working with both teams to make it happen.”
