Could ImproveWell help your NHS team find joy in work?

28 January 2019

We are offering four organisations from across the partnership the opportunity to pilot ImproveWell, an app which engages staff in quality improvement and supports joy in work.

The ImproveWell app, which was amongst the first cohort of digital technologies supported by the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator, enables frontline healthcare staff to submit improvement ideas to their leadership teams who in turn comment, feedback and ultimately support change and champion ideas to facilitate improvements that make a real difference to patient care and staff experience. Following on from the success of our first ImproveWell pilot, we are now inviting organisations from across acute, community and public health settings within our partnership to apply to be part of the second pilot scheme.

The four successful organisations will receive free access to the app as well as our ongoing support with their 18-week pilot programmes. Organisations will then have the opportunity to receive up to 50% funding (up to a value of £50k in total) for an annual licence, to continue their programmes thereafter. This funding will be awarded through a competitive process at the end of the pilot scheme.

We are keen to work with partners who are progressing on their improvement journey, where this app could further support staff engagement and help to build a culture of improvement for their organisation.

Debbie Johnson of Southend CCG, a participant from first ImproveWell pilot scheme said: “The communication between our CCG and the GP practice was already good, especially with primary care managers, but the mobile app has enabled us to be more proactive about informing the CCG of ideas for improvements.  It allows the CCG time to consider, plan and act on ideas for possible future processes.”

In her blog about participating in our first ImproveWell pilot scheme, Alana Ahmet, junior doctor and psychiatric trainee at NELFT said “ImproveWell proved to be a useful tool for bridging the gap between problems and solutions; it helped to validate the concerns of junior doctors and equip them with the tools to move forward with solutions.”
