Joint agency response checklist for suspected suicide in children and young people (CYP)

The NCMD Thematic Report on Suicide in Children and Young People highlighted several next steps to improve data collection in relation to these deaths in Section 10.

This Joint agency response checklist has been developed in conjunction with the NHS England Children and Young People’s Mental Health Policy Team with input from the CDOP community and is designed as a prompt for the questions to ask when undertaking a Joint Agency Response in relation to a suspected suicide.

The questions are designed to support good post intervention support for communities affected by the suicide of a child or young person, to enhance the level of detail provided at notification stage to support quick national action where appropriate and to inform coroner’s investigations.
