Here at UCLH Simulation Centre we have welcomed two new members to our team: Daniel Wise: Simulation Technician, and Dr Matthew Judd: Simulation Fellow, look out for them at future LSN meetings!
Alongside our regular courses we have been collaborating with educators across multiple Nursing specialties on a simulation programme to support an existing Qualified in Specialty (QIS) course for enhanced care skills. We recently ran two successful ‘test-drive’ sessions of the new scenarios that have been designed specifically for this course.
These sessions gave our diverse faculty the opportunity to develop their expertise in facilitating simulation, as well as experience the scenarios their colleagues had designed first-hand as a participant. The reflective conversations in these sessions provided a useful insight into how scenario delivery can promote both learning outcomes and psychological safety for participants.
We have also been working towards being a ‘paperless’ simulation centre with both the transition to the iRIS platform for our simulation scenarios, as well as working towards our own simulated electronic health record system. Once we have this up and running, we would be happy to share our experience with you all at a future LSN event.
