Discovery

We are working to improve discovery science, speed up the delivery of medical breakthroughs and ensure that data is used effectively to bring new insights that improve patient care and population health.

Unlocking the power of health data to improve cancer care

In October 2019, UCLPartners became host to DATA-CAN: The Health Data Research Hub for Cancer, a UK-wide partnership that aims to transform how cancer data from across the UK can be used to improve patient care.

UCL-Ventura: academics and clinicians join forces with industry to respond to COVID-19

Scientists and clinicians from across our partnership worked together with industry to create Continuous Positive Airway Pressure breathing devices to treat patients during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Recruiting into a major study of air quality and children’s respiratory health

We are helping to recruit primary school children to take part in the Children’s Health in London and Luton (CHILL) study, testing the impact of London’s new Ultra Low Emission Zone on children’s respiratory health.

Understanding the impact of training to identify and refer women affected by domestic violence and abuse

Identification and Referral to Improve Safety (IRIS) is a primary-care-delivered, evidence-based intervention to improve the health, safety and experience of women affected by domestic violence and abuse.

We support the adoption and spread of innovation across our local health and care system, matching solutions to need.

Preventing prescribing errors in general practice

We have been supporting the roll out of a pharmacist-led information technology intervention for reducing clinically important errors (PINCER)

Managing deterioration in out of hospital settings

We worked with four partner organisations to improve the experience and outcomes for people cared for in the community who are at risk of physical deterioration, by testing and implementing two innovative approaches: Significant 7+ and Whzan.

Enabling quicker and easier Mental Health Act assessments

We have supported the introduction of an innovative new technology across north central and north east London to improve the Mental Health Act assessment process for service users and medical professionals.

Supporting the set-up of non face-to-face clinics

We synthesised learning and practical insights from our NHS partners and patients to create a unique online guide to setting up non-face-to-face clinics which has been viewed more than 7,000 times and has informed virtual clinic set up pre- and post-COVID.
