Escape-pain (Enabling Self-management and Coping with Arthritic Pain using Exercise) is an award winning NICE and QIPP endorsed programme which helps people to manage arthritic joint pain and postpone the need for surgery.
ESCAPE-pain programme launched across UCLPartners
This award-winning programme is being introduced across the UCLPartners geography.
ESCAPE-pain is a six-week rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain that integrates simple education, self-management and coping strategies, with an exercise regimen individualised for each person. Participants in the programme have experienced improvements in physical function, general wellbeing, and quality of life – and reduced healthcare economy costs.
The programme was developed in south London by Professor Mike Hurley with support from the Health Innovation Network. Now, it has been selected by the AHSN Network as a programme to be spread around the country.
We are helping to spread the programme in our geography by supporting facilitators to be trained and developing a Community of Practice for local physiotherapists and other appropriately qualified professionals from the acute, community and public health setting.
