Quality Improvement training

UCLPartners provides training to support individuals to increase their understanding and to develop capability to lead and deliver improvement work. Please note that all face-to-face trainings and events are on hold at the moment due to COVID-19.

Training and development

We provide training to support individuals to increase their understanding and to develop capability to lead and deliver improvement work.

We have been training clinical and non-clinical professionals since 2014. In that time, we have trained over 700 people in quality improvement, measurement for improvement and human factors and behavioural change.

Our training sessions are designed to empower individuals and organisations to work collaboratively to improve patient outcomes. We do this by supporting staff within the partnership to increase their improvement capability with basic skills and knowledge of quality improvement.

As well as our set course list, we also run bespoke training and development for organisations. If you are interested in arranging a bespoke course, get in touch: qi@uclpartners.com

Introduction to Quality Improvement online training

Our “Introduction to Quality Improvement” modules provide both knowledge and practical support to understand what quality improvement (QI) is and how to implement a QI project.

These modules have been developed and delivered by our Quality Improvement team based on the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Model for Improvement (MFI).

QI clinics

Have you ever found yourself in need of expert support when delivering QI projects?

We offer quality improvement clinics to provide one-to-one support to people who are running QI projects in health and social care settings.

Book a session with a member of the team to help you overcome challenges to driving improvement, such as:

  • Getting started
  • Planning tests of change
  • Defining measures, collecting data and analysing variation
  • Achieving engagement and buy-in from colleagues

If you require additional support with your QI project or have any specific queries, then these sessions are for you. These one-on-one sessions will provide specific guidance on your QI project.

Who are these clinics for?

The clinics are designed for anyone working in health and care organisations within our region who would like support with their quality improvement project work. If your organisation is not part of our region, please get in touch.

Bespoke Improvement training and support

UCLPartners offers a range of improvement training and programmes to NHS and academic organisations in the region.

UCLPartners uses the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) Model for Improvement as the basis of improvement training and programmes. Our experience is that the model should be used flexibly as a tool for improvement work, depending on the scenario, rather than a set structure.

UCLPartners recognises that improvement work within organisations is evolving, and appreciates that this is often a long-term strategy. We ensure that any programme or training delivered is complementary to an organisation’s existing framework and the progress already made. Beyond practical bespoke support, we are happy to help organisations to develop their visions for improvement. Please complete the form to indicate what help and support we can provide for you.
