UCLPartners is looking for an experienced programme manager to lead our Improvement team as Head of Programmes.

This role is responsible for the whole Improvement function of UCLPartners, aiming to apply improvement principles to a varied programme of work in order to achieve sustainable improvement in services in the NHS.

You will be leading a team of eight who provide improvement coaching and training to health and social care staff, as well as patient involvement and network development support.

The Improvement team supports partners across the region to develop the capability and capacity to improve quality, patient outcomes and experience, alongside increasing efficiency.

We do this through a set of underlying principles and activities:

  • Quality improvement training and development

  • Patient insight and involvement
  • Organisational culture development
  • Spread and adoption of improvement
  • Digital innovations
  • Strategy and leadership.

We believe that by providing staff with a framework and tools, as well as the ability to share learning with others in similar situations, teams can learn faster and implement long-term change for the better.

UCLPartners is looking for an individual with a passion for improving patient care to lead UCLPartners’ improvement programmes. The Head of Improvement Programmes will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of the improvement programmes, including patient insight and involvement and network development. The role will work closely with other UCLPartners heads of programmes, particularly the Head of Patient Safety.

Reporting to the Director of Capability Development, this is a senior role within UCLPartners which will be expected to report to our commissioners on a local and national level.

The Head of Improvement Programmes will nurture relationships with stakeholders, provide improvement advice to senior partners, and will harness new opportunities to support sustainable improvement in the NHS.

This role will be most suited to someone with strong programme management, collaboration, leadership and improvement skills and who can provide support to teams across the partnership. The role requires strategic planning, communication skills, and the ability to work across organisational boundaries to enable partners to benefit from UCLPartners’ improvement offer and ensure the impact of our work.
