UCLPartners and ABHI sign concordat to advance collaboration and innovation in UK medical technology

2 September 2015

UCLPartners and the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) have signed a concordat of collaboration to address challenges facing the NHS and social care.

Signed in July 2015, the agreement fosters collaboration between the medical technology industry and UCLPartners, the NHS and social care partners to address specific challenges facing the NHS and social care in the UK. It will help develop a coordinated approach in responding to initiatives that deliver mutuality beneficial outcomes, while enabling ABHI and UCLPartners to collectively address on-going health challenges and industry opportunities such as digital health, Test Beds and Vanguards.

UCLPartners Director of Commercial Development, Professor Joanne Hackett commented:  Part of the remit of AHSNs is to work more closely with the commercial sector, as such we are delighted to announce this latest collaboration. As an Academic Health Science Network our impact lies in our ability to bring together people and organisations to allow genuine transformations which will benefit patients and populations.”

ABHI Chief Operating Officer Nishan Sunthares said: “Our Concordat with UCLPartners reiterates ABHI’s commitment to establishing and driving partnerships between the medtech industry and the NHS. We look forward to working with the UCLPartners team to deliver improvements which enhance patient outcomes and improve the quality and value of healthcare provision.”
