First cohort of UCLPartners Improvement Fellows announced

UCLPartners Improvement Fellows 2016UCLPartners has selected 23 individuals from across the region to take part in the first Improvement Fellows programme. The Fellows have been selected from a wide range of roles including nursing, medicine, finance, social care, local government, improvement and general management.

The programme will provide Fellows with the opportunity for open dialogue in a safe environment away from the usual workplace, offer time and space to reflect and plan, as well as the opportunity for more tangible learning and benefits. The programme aims to support participants to drive improvements within their organisations and beyond. Over the eight-month programme, the Improvement Fellows will:

  • Take part in workshops that provide the opportunity to reflect and explore their ideas, challenges and priorities with faculty and colleagues
  • Hear from improvement experts, including:
    • Professor Richard Bohmer, Professor of Management Practice at Harvard Business School
    • Professor Martin Marshall, Professor of Healthcare Improvement at UCL and lead for Improvement Science London
    • Professor Maxine Power, Director of Innovation and Improvement Science at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Director of Haelo a Healthcare Improvement Organisation working across Salford, Greater Manchester, nationally and internationally
  • Develop as a network of like-minded people to build a community to turn to for inspiration, support and expertise that go beyond their current local and professional networks and endure over time
  • Access wider communities of improvers, such as the Q Initiative participants from UCLPartners’ geography
  • Utilise learning resources including a subscription to IHI’s Open School, where participants will be able to get an IHI basic certificate in Quality Improvement.
